The University of Basel, Switzerland’s oldest university is one of the host institutions of the Swiss Centre for Applied Human Toxicology (SCAHT).
Founded in 2009, SCAHT provides toxicology and risk assessment expertise to national and international regulatory bodies. Scientists at its academic partners, the universities of Basel, Geneva and Lausanne, conduct research in applied human toxicology. Current projects focus on exploring toxicity pathways in areas such as male reproductive toxicology, endocrine disruption and steroid action, neuro- and hepatotoxicity using in silico and in vitro techniques, exposure models, and state-of-the-art analytical techniques.
SCAHT’s experts also deliver specialised training and education in toxicological sciences, safety testing and risk assessment as part of the MSc in Drug Sciences programme at the University of Basel and the MAS in Toxicology programme at the universities of Geneva and Lausanne.
